Mike Makowski was honored with the prestigious BMW MOA Ambassador designation at the Hill Country Hangout April 5, 2025. This is not simply a title but a tribute a man whose passion for motorcycling, unwavering commitment to the motorcycling community, and tireless leadership have left a lasting imprint on both the National MOA organization and the San Antonio BMW Riders Association (SABMWRA).
His dedication to recruiting new members to both the local and national organizations has sparked a wave of growth and renewed energy. If you've ever spoken with Mike, you know—his enthusiasm is contagious. He has a unique and genuine ability to connect with riders from every walk of life, igniting a shared passion that strengthens the entire BMW family.
Mike has also forged a strategic partnership with the local BMW dealership, placing QR-coded business cards at the point of interest, thus creating a simple, yet powerful, way to drive new memberships and deepen the SABMWRA’s visibility within the riding community. We have enjoyed the fruits of his effort with motivated new members looking and finding a community with us.
Among his many accomplishments, one stands tall: the transformation of the Hill Country Hang Out into a national highlight on the MOA calendar. Under his co-chair leadership, this event has not only drawn MOA riders from across the country, but it has flourished—year after year—with exceptional attendance and camaraderie. It’s a rally that reflects Mike’s vision, his meticulous planning, and his gift for bringing people together.
This year, thanks in no small part to Mike’s efforts, we marked a historic milestone—the San Antonio BMW Riders Association officially became an MOA Chapter. This wasn’t an easy road. It took collaboration, perseverance, and someone who could see the big picture while managing every important detail. That someone was Mike, and his influence with the club leadership in going through the process, to completion.
He’s also been a champion of training and education, helping shape programs that align with the MOA Foundation’s mission to promote rider safety. By weaving this mission into the very fabric of the club, he has elevated the riding experience—not just for today, but for future generations.
Most impressively, Mike’s impact stretches far beyond his home turf. He shows up. He lends a hand. He raises funds. He volunteers at rallies—national and local—not for applause or acknowledgment, but because he believes in the heart of this community. He has a servant’s heart, always giving, always supporting.
Mike is truly a leader, builder, friend and a passionate ambassador of the cycling sport and lifestyle we all cherish.
