Club members and a member of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) attended a Road Captain Workshop to become skilled at leading group rides more successfully and safely. Bob Davis, a certified AMA instructor, who has gained a tremendous amount of rides, both leading and participating in group rides, gave an excellent presentation to the 15 students.
The hour and a half instruction captured the essentials of leading a group ride. The comprehensive curriculum covered a wide range of topics, including planning and preparing for a ride, what to consider before the ride, and how to lead the ride. The course also included attendees sharing their interesting ride experiences and stories to the delight of the others. Everyone said they learned new skills and will now be capable of leading further Club rides.
