Litter Pickup Turn Out

Litter Pickup Turn Out

The club’s January 20th Litter Pickup had one of the largest turnouts in recent memory and was a terrific success. Nine hearty souls braved sub-freezing weather to collect litter along the club’s two-mile stretch of Adopt-a-Highway on FM 473. The group formed teams to get the job done in just under 90 minutes. They collected seven large bags of waste, mostly beer cans and bottles flung from vehicles traveling that stretch of road. It appears the “Don’t Mess With Texas” campaign hasn’t reached everyone yet.

The troupe gathering the litter consisted of John Hawley (Team Lead & Photographer), Bill Edwards, Kelly Clark, Mike Makowski, Randy Logan, Dave Slyman, Bernie Duco, James Cobarruvias, and John Sires who are pictured below.

Afterward the group headed to the Longhorn Café, in Boerne that claims to be the “Home of the Original Big Juicy” hamburger. The guys had some great food and lively conversation about the MotoGP and the Isle of Man races.

The next opportunity to participate in a club Litter Pickup is 10 AM, Saturday April 27th.
