Club Updates September 2021

Ride leaders have posted details for the September and October Third Saturday Rides. Check the calendar items below and sign up through our new website or contact the leaders directly to let them know if you're planning to attend. Items listed in bold print are club activities. Dates not bolded are items that may be of interest to members.

September 9 - Club social dinner at Luciano Neighborhood Pizzeria, 15614 Huebner Rd at 7 p.m.

September 18 - Tour of Painted Churches:  Tom Wilmotte and Bill Edwards will lead a ride to visit three of the painted churches in the Schulenberg area, leaving from Mague’s Café (20450 TX Hwy 46, Spring Branch) at 8:00 am sharp and heading east on TX-46 thru New Braunfels to Seguin for a short rest stop around 9:00 to hydrate and use restrooms if necessary.

From Seguin, we’ll head mostly along U.S. 90 (rather than I-10) thru Kingsbury, Luling, and Waelder, and Flatonia to the first church in Praha.  The other nearby churches are St. Mary’s High Hill and St. Cyril & Methodius.  We plan to spend about 25 minutes touring each church.

There is no charge to tour the churches, but visitor donation boxes are available at each church.  After touring the churches, we plan to ride back to Luling along I-10 for a BBQ lunch at the City Market, arriving around 1:30 pm.  If you would rather shorten your ride by meeting up with the group in Seguin, be at the Shell station at I-10/TX-46 intersection in Seguin promptly at 9:00 am.

Tom and Bill plan to be at Mague’s at 7:00 am to have breakfast before the ride.  Everyone is welcome to join them.  They will have information sheets on the ride and the churches.   More detailed information on the ride is posted on the calendar of the club website, but if you have questions, you may email Tom.

September 25 - 26 - Back by popular demand! Alamo BMW will host trainers Shawn Thomas and Louise Powers for an off-road training event. The course will be held at the Flying L Ranch in Bandera.  Details to come. If interested, please drop an email to Suzanne O'Neal at salesmanager@alamobmw.com.

October 8-10 - Barber Vintage Festival, Leeds, Alabama - If you haven't been to this motorsport museum, make plans to go this year. You'll be amazed at the size and scope of the collection and you'll enjoy the racing and auction, too.

October 16 - Third Saturday club ride with Ride Leader John Dunn to Ingram, TX to visit Stonehenge II and have lunch in The Lakehouse Restaurant.

Departure will be from the Lowe's Grocery parking lot in Bandera at 9:30 AM. We will go through Center Point, TX, drive by the waterfall and follow the Guadalupe River to Kerrville and take 27 to Ingram, TX to visit Stonehenge II. Lunch will follow in the Lakehouse Restaurant - a very scenic place and I must admit their catfish is some of the best I have ever had. The return route is up to you.

October 22 - 23 - Harvest Classic Rally, Luckenbach. The 2021 Harvest Classic will be held in Luckenbach, Texas on October 22 & 23. It’s been a rough couple of years, and it will be nice to gather together under the shady oaks of Luckenbach and just mess about with old bikes. Everything will be a little bit low-key this year just to give folks an opportunity to ease back into things, enjoy the weekend with the Harvest Classic motorcycle community, and raise some much-needed funds for the Candlelighters program of Any Baby Can.

October 22-24 - MOA Getaway at Kerrville. The $99 event fee includes a Friday night welcome party and dinner with cash bar, Saturday night dinner and awards with cash bar, $500 worth of door prizes, and a special MOA gift.

Nov 5 - 7 - The Handbuilt Motorcycle Show, Austin. Always an interesting show with bikes and racing. Check it out at
